We’re delighted to have Glasgow’s/Eaglesham’s legendary Linn Records distributing our music on their online store. For all you audiophiles, Linn now have the full 24bit studio master of No Flags Will Fly, as we industriously try and write it’s follow up.

Members of each band had a go at playing each others songs, and for one night there was a wee glimpse of the sort of social hub that record shops used to be, with a real sense of community and sharing of musical opinions and tastes. It’s no longer open for debate that the days of this being the norm (or even the best, most efficient way of doing things) are past us, but hey, lets cling on to what wee gems there are left.

Here is a video of Admiral Swimmers/Olympic Fallow covering Love Song by The Cure. Thanks to Kev at Avalanche and Red Dog for providing the PA.

Here’s a wee link where you can listen to tunes taken from...

Here’s a wee link where you can listen to tunes taken from our live session on the Vic Galloway Show broadcast on the 17th of December 2012.

No Flags Will Fly is number 17, with a thoroughly deserved top 3 of Karine Polwart, Lau and Admiral Fallow. It’s also especially sweet to see Holy Mountain, Miaoux Miaoux and The Unwinding Hours on the list, as they have all contributed musically to Olympic Swimmers in the past year, either through playing guitar/bass for us, remixing our songs or recording our album.

‘Knots’ and it’s B-side the remixed version of Where It Snows (thanks to Miaoux Miaoux) will be available for free download from Monday 17th Sept until 8th October and thereafter on cassette tape via our bandcamp (www.olympicswimmers.bandcamp.com)

Knots will be featured on Charlie Ashcroft’s Amazing Radio show on Monday at 1pm and afterwards can be voted for to go on the playlist. It’s very unlike us to make such an X-factor-ish request but if you would like to vote for us please follow this link after 1pm on Monday (http://amazingradio.co.uk/audition)

We will be playing with Frightened Rabbit in Dumfries on 24th September at The Venue.

We will be doing a wee acoustic gig on Oct 10th in the Griffin in Glasgow at a charity gig in support of Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH)

We have been writing and recording demos in the last month or two working toward our next album which we hope we’ll be able to start recording as soon as we can next year

We are sorting out some gigs for November and December at the moment so we hope to be able to play a few different places then and will keep you posted.

Lastly but certainly not least thank you to all those who have supported us or written nice things about us/the album in the last few months and most importantly to those who have spent their hard earned cash on the album or merch. We realise it’s a difficult time for many people and we appreciate that in a time where music is freely available (or rather stolen) on the internet the commitment that those people show toward supporting musicians is invaluable. The only way we’ll be able to make another album is if we can support it financially, and the only way we can do that is if people buy what we make. THANK YOU FOR DOING THAT

Apologies about the sparse updates of late, but ‘Summer’ has been good to us thus far.

To ease your pain, here is photo of us basking in the Scottish sunshine.

Allow me to catalogue what has happened in the long months since we last informed you of our movements. Admiral Fallow were kind enough to have us support in London back in May, and we had a great time at GoNorth just after the Album came out. Oran Mor’s West End Festival Closing Party and Wickerman saw us using the not inconsiderable talents of Alex McNutt on drums, as Jonny has been busy playing with The Kills as part of their Black Rooster Drum Corp, but like the prodigal son Jonny has returned and we supported the Unwinding Hours at King Tut’s last Monday night, and we play the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival tomorrow, Saturday the 4th of August. Following that we have Doune The Rabbit Hole on the 24th of August, when we will be welcoming Andy ‘tone’ McGlone from Holy Mountain on bass, as I’m away with Karine Polwart. Further gig announcements are not far away for some autumnal adventures with familiar faces.

We’re really happy with all the nice things people have said about our album, thanks to all those who have bought it so far, you’re helping us toward making another! A special thanks must go to Monorail, Love Music, Avalanche, HMV Stirling and One-Up for stocking the physical copies, and being so damn nice about it.

Knots is going to be released as a single in September, complete with a Miaoux Miaoux remix of Where It Snows. More details to follow.

Finally, never ones to stand around, we’re starting to write some new material for another album next week, going up north to live in a studio for a few days. If it goes well, we should be able to play some new songs live in the not too distant future.

Thanks for your patience, and for reading this bumbling update. I’ll try and make them more frequent and shorter. Or is that what Twitter is for?

The premise is that film can be used to raise awareness and increase understanding of local and global social issues. It is now in its 9th year and runs from the 20th to the 23rd of October. The festival incorporates film screenings, workshops, exhibitions and debates in four main venues around Glasgow: The CCA, GFT, GMAC and The Old Hairdressers (Renfield Lane, opposite Stereo), as well as live music each night in the CCA including Andrea Marini, No Comet and one other act still TBC. We are playing after the screenings at 10.30pm on Saturday the 22nd of October in CCA 5, with a donation of £3 on the door.
