No Flags Will Fly is number 17, with a thoroughly deserved top 3 of Karine Polwart, Lau and Admiral Fallow. It’s also especially sweet to see Holy Mountain, Miaoux Miaoux and The Unwinding Hours on the list, as they have all contributed musically to Olympic Swimmers in the past year, either through playing guitar/bass for us, remixing our songs or recording our album. If you haven’t checked out their own music yet, I implore you to do so immediately.

Summer Happenings

Hello all,

Apologies about the sparse updates of late, but ‘Summer’ has been good to us thus far.

To ease your pain, here is photo of us basking in the Scottish sunshine.

Allow me to catalogue what has happened in the long months since we last informed you of our movements. Admiral Fallow were kind enough to have us support in London back in May, and we had a great time at GoNorth just after the Album came out. Oran Mor’s West End Festival Closing Party and Wickerman saw us using the not inconsiderable talents of Alex McNutt on drums, as Jonny has been busy playing with The Kills as part of their Black Rooster Drum Corp, but like the prodigal son Jonny has returned and we supported the Unwinding Hours at King Tut’s last Monday night, and we play the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival tomorrow, Saturday the 4th of August.  Following that we have Doune The Rabbit Hole on the 24th of August, when we will be welcoming Andy ‘tone’ McGlone from Holy Mountain on bass, as I’m away with Karine Polwart. Further gig announcements are not far away for some autumnal adventures with familiar faces.

We’re really happy with all the nice things people have said about our album, thanks to all those who have bought it so far, you’re helping us toward making another! A special thanks must go to Monorail, Love Music, Avalanche, HMV Stirling and One-Up for stocking the physical copies, and being so damn nice about it.

Knots is going to be released as a single in September, complete with a Miaoux Miaoux remix of Where It Snows. More details to follow.

Finally, never ones to stand around, we’re starting to write some new material for another album next week, going up north to live in a studio for a few days. If it goes well, we should be able to play some new songs live in the not too distant future.

Thanks for your patience, and for reading this bumbling update. I’ll try and make them more frequent and shorter. Or is that what Twitter is for?
